Event Horizons

Since I first plugged my Yamaha Silent Brass mute into the wall of Boss guitar effects pedals at my local music store in 2007, I’ve been fascinated with experimenting and pushing what type of sounds can be made with a trumpet.

Fast forward to the end of 2024, and I’ve built an amazing pedal board of my own, thanks to the support from my muse, my beloved Johara, and my friends Haley and Joe Anastasio, HMFICs at Void Manufacturing, formerly Lone Wolf Audio.

With their help I’ve been able to create a rig that transforms my trumpet into a weapon of sonic warfare, capable of covering the full spectrum and range of sound, able to mimick virtually any part of an ensemble, which I have been using to write original music in various genres.

To put it simply, it’s just some solo multitrack projects.

But what I envision, what I’ve been planning, goes so far beyond that. I’m talking like Buckethead’s Pikes series volume of material, but across multiple genres.

Here’s a dozen projects I’ve got varying degrees of material created for:

  1. Brainblaster, obviously, which I plan on turning into a breakcore-ish project, like a blend of breakcore and technical trap metal.

  2. Early 2010’s dubstep/bass project ala Chrispy

  3. DnB & Jungle project ala anything on DnB Allstars

  4. Liquid DnB project ala anything on liquid DnB playlists

  5. Drone/doom metal project ala Sun O)))

  6. Horrorcore hip-hop project ala ;)

  7. House/techno project ala any four on the floor techno you’ve ever heard

  8. lo-fi hip-hop project ala youtube lofi beats to study to

  9. Protest/punk project ala ;)

  10. Cybergrind project ala early Genghis Tron

  11. Modern jazz fusion project

  12. Modern hard bop project

And it keeps going.

I’ve planned entire business units around these projects, which makes up an entire conglomorate consisting of the various branches that make up this business.

A parent company nesting smaller parent companies for recording, publishing, art/media, wholesale/merch, all with their own companies nested under each division.

Each of those projects I listed is within a record label dedicated to that particular genre.

As someone who’s always had an entrepreneurial spirit, this is the project I can say all my endeavors have been leading up to.

I wasn’t put on this planet to play in cover bands or pit orchestras the rest of my life.

I’ve always felt a deep, innate calling to being an artist, someone fully dedicated to the craft of their instrument and the music they produce with it, and thanks to a fortunate turn of events where I no longer needed to take every gig offered to sustain myself, I’ve been exploring this calling that’s been clawing, tearing its way out of me no matter how much I try to procrastinate and hold it back.

I’d like to imagine this gets rolling next year, but with the uncertainty in this world, there’s no telling.

But at least I’ve put this out there, so that people know what I’ve been up to and what’s been on my mind.

Trumpet and music, like always.
