These were one-off recordings I did for the band Rainbow Danger Club. The drummer for Heart of the City is also the drummer for this band, which is how I got the call. The bandleader had loose ideas for both tracks I helped dial in and record on the spot in one day.

The Day The Earth Stood Still

I had to convince the bandleader to let me add the high F#. I told him to trust me, it would add so much energy to the part! The soli at the end I learned from the bandleader singing it to me, and I came up with quartal and tertiary harmony on the spot to make it sound even cooler.

Friend or Foe

I wasn’t sure how the solo to this one was going to turn out- they had me record a handful of different takes, and then the engineer spliced together what he thought were the best parts of each.
